So good for so long

I guess it had to happen sooner or later. We've been pretty lucky to avoid major kid messes since Emma joined us a couple years ago. Of course there are the annoying toys all over the house kind of messes on a daily basis but nothing too outrageous. Emma hasn't really taken it upon herself to completely explore all the interesting delights that she could easily get into. I've never walked into the bathroom to find tooth paste, shampoo or liquid soap squeezed out all over the place. Of course, I guess I do keep those out of her reach for the most part and Emma really doesn't like the feel of being sticky or messy. She did get a hold of a box of cereal once, and dumped that out but that can be easily vacuumed up. Well, the other day I tried to feed her some mashed bananas. The fact that they are mashed is a whole other post about what a picky eater Emma is. I'll save that for another day. Anyway, so she didn't want the mashed bananas so even though I was frustrated, I calmly took her out of her high chair and set the bananas aside on the table for later. Well, I wasn't minding her for a few minutes (I was probably blogging or something) and she comes walking into our little office area with bananas all over her. I walk out to find bananas everywhere! She even tried to feed her little Elmo doll bananas! She follows me out, sits down by the banana masher that still holds a little bit of the mashed banana and precedes to eat the rest of it right there in front of me on the living room carpet as if its the most normal thing in the world! You know those days where you feel like you've just been pushed too far, where you've just had it with all the shenanigans? Well, I had already reached that point an hour earlier. By this time it was just plain funny. I grabbed my camera and decided to capture the memory digitally! It doesn't really look that bad in the pictures and in all honesty, it could have been way worse. And I fully realize that someday, there probably will be worse messes than this! Yikes! Until then, I'll enjoy my one toddler that really isn't too messy most of the time.
