Idol and stuff

I've been grading Spanish tests like a mad woman but I thought I'd take a quick break and update my blog with a few thoughts! I'm going to keep it superficial because I just don't have the time and energy right now to talk about how wonderful it has been to watch my sister with her newborn baby. I just can't do it justice with my words right now but I hope to soon when I have a little more time and energy to put some thought into it! I will however, post a photo or two of Baby Mallory and her beautiful red hair. Now on to the superficial. Anyone catch Idol last night?! You'd probably never believe that Neil Diamond was one of my first favorite singers but it's true! At the age of 6, I loved the movie The Jazz Singer. How weird is that? Besides liking Neil Diamond and his movie The Jazz Singer, I really did have a pretty normal childhood. Go figure then why at age 6 I was drawn to his music and movie. I'm a little embarrassed to admit this but I still do like his music, although you'd never find a CD of his in my collection. Needless to say, I was a little excited to see how the contestants of American Idol would sing his songs. I can't deny that both Davids are very talented and good at what they do. I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up as the final two. However, I still really like Jason and Brooke. In fact, Jason's song Forever in Blue Jeans was probably my favorite of the night. This came as a surprise because I love the song Coming to America from the movie The Jazz Singer and David A. did a great job singing it but I still preferred listening to Jason sing Forever in Blue Jeans. I even went on to the website today to listen to him sing it again. I also really liked (and listened to it again) Brooke's song I am...Said I. So those were my favorites of the night. Which songs were your favorites?

Neil Diamond, ladies and gentleman.

I also will admit that I use to watch that movie. It was one of my dad's favorites when I was younger.

How funny that we both loved Neil growing up, but never admitted it to each other!!!

Imagine my surprise and delight when Brad was introduced to Neil and The Jazz Singer in grad school when he worked with disabled people and one of the clients played that movie and other cd's, like 24/7.

Anyway...I'm kinda glad Brooke went. I like her, but I don't think she was so great. And it was stressful to watch her be all stressed!

I like the two Davids, especially sweet Archuleta.
